Place des Montréalaises
Drainage System – Champ-de-Mars Entrance, Place des Montréalaises
Product used: TrenchFormer 12 by ABT Drains (trench formers with integrated slope)
Contractor: Genix Construction
Urban Engineering: Lemay & AtkinsRéalis
As part of the development of Place des Montréalaises — a public space dedicated to honoring women of the past, present, and future — a TrenchFormer 12 linear drainage system by ABT Drains was installed around the Champ-de-Mars metro entrance in Montréal. Only trench formers with integrated slope were used, allowing for custom monolithic concrete pours while ensuring efficient surface water evacuation, which is essential to the long-term durability of this commemorative esplanade.
The grates, sourced from another manufacturer to meet the designers’ specific aesthetic vision, demonstrate the flexibility of the TrenchFormer system, which can be adapted to various architectural and design contexts without compromising hydraulic or structural performance.
The project was carried out under the direction of Genix Construction, in collaboration with the urban engineering teams at Lemay and AtkinsRéalis, ensuring that the technical integration supports the symbolic and inclusive mission of Place des Montréalaises.
