The History of Poly-Expert Distribution
Founded in 2002 in Laval, Quebec, the company took the name of Poly-Expert Distribution because the owner had a long experience in the field of distribution, and particularly in the field of urban or industrial infrastructure pipelines. His expertise in high-density polyethylene pipes made this name choice quite plausible.
After growing up in the heart of the forests of Abitibi, Robert Baril moved to Laval in 1987 to take care of the family business. Its mandate was to develop the Quebec market on a larger scale. In 2002, he decided to leave his father’s company to take his own wings and thus create Poly-Expert Distribution.
Initially, the founder wanted to continue promoting products such as polyethylene pipes, but an opportunity presented itself and the owner made an exploratory trip to Asia, specifically to foundries in China.
Upon his return from China, he probed the market with a clientele he knew well. To meet a very positive interest of its customers, it decided to try his luck by importing road cast iron products per container. The basic philosophy was simple, that is to offer a quality product at a competitive price but above all not to break a local market with prices too low.
Now a respected and well-known importer, the owner has focused on creating a healthy and respectful business relationship with other distributors in Quebec. As a result, over the years, Poly-Expert Distribution has become a manufacturing agent for US and Canadian manufacturers.
From the beginning of the company, a manufacturing agent agreement was signed with Équipements Lapierre de Saint-Ludger to represent their PLADECC polyethylene piping line. This agreement between Poly-Expert Distribution and Équipements Lapierre is still in force today.
In 2008, the company signed a distribution agreement for Quebec with ABT Drains, which led it to specialize in surface drainage with sewers of all sizes. A product line that is constantly growing.
In 2014, a manufacturing agent agreement was signed with Romac Industries to represent them in Quebec. This line of high-quality water and sewer system sleeves and fittings brings the company to more work with cities and municipalities.
