Granby Hospital
Project: Emergency Vehicle Entrance – Granby Hospital
Product Used: Polydrain 2512
Type: Precast polymer concrete trench drain with 0.6% built-in slope
Grate: Ductile iron grate with black polymer coating, compliant with ASTM A536 Grade 80-55-06
Frame: Model 2510, independently anchored to the concrete slab
Load Rating: 620 PSI (per AASHTO M-306)
Load Class: E (up to 60 tons – heavy-duty applications)
Open Area: 0.21 ft² per linear foot [0.064 m²/m]
Application:
Drainage system installed at the emergency vehicle access area. Designed to efficiently capture runoff while supporting frequent heavy vehicle traffic, such as ambulances and fire trucks.
Technical Advantage:
Unlike competing systems where the frame is cast into and supported solely by the drain body, the Polydrain 2512 features a frame independently anchored into the concrete slab. This design allows for even load distribution across the encasement slab, improving long-term durability and structural performance under dynamic stress.
Advantages:
Increased resistance to crushing and frame displacement
Structural frame integrity maintained independently of the drain channel
Efficient load transfer to surrounding slab
Lockable system for added safety and ease of maintenance
